The Truth About Traffic Softwares

Chances are you’ve come across ads for traffic softwares while looking into starting a Web business. And they make the most wonderful promises. Just set them going, sit back and relax, and BOOM! They suck in hordes of visitors to your site and send your profits soaring. At least that’s what their makers claim. And it’s all absolutely bogus.

There are basically three types of traffic softwares that we’ll talk about here.

One type works on traffic exchange sites. A traffic exchange site is a site where you agree to click on other members’ links and that earns you credits to have other members click on your website link. So you look at other members’ sites in return for their looking at yours. What this traffic software tries to do is go onto traffic exchange sites and automatically click on links to get you the credits you need to have other members click on your site.

Well, the vast majority of traffic exchange sites are able to detect such traffic softwares and block them. And when they catch you trying to use one, you get kicked out of your membership. It’s adios for you.

And besides that, trying to have other members’ links automatically clicked on is downright dishonest and shameful. I’ve seen postings on discussion forums that label these traffic softwares as "scumware", and I think it’s quite appropriate. Integrity should be your absolute, unshakeable, indomitable quality in your business dealings (in anything, for that matter). If it isn’t, then you don’t deserve to become financially independent.

If you want a bona fide way to increase your site popularity and attract more traffic, you should consider joining this link exchange club .

It isn’t exactly a traffic software but it’s still a good way to increase your traffic. It’s a kind of Internet club where website owners in the same niche can agree to link to each other’s sites. And it’s free to join. Then you see a list of websites in your niche and you decide which ones you want to contact to do a link exchange with.

But they only accept websites that have quality content. So you’d better have quality content on your site. That’s the beauty of this free service. Only quality sites are allowed into it, so the websites you agree to exchange links with will be quality websites. And when the search engines see you linked up with quality sites, your ranking improves.

The second group of traffic softwares are the ad blasters. These claim to send (excuse me, "blast") your ad to thousands of free advertising sites at the click of a button. Heck, you can even set some of them to re-send your ad every day, or every week, or however often you like automatically.

First of all, some of them simply don’t work. Some ad blasters that promise to send your ad to thousands of free classified sites end up sending to at most a few, and sometimes none at all.

And even in the cases of those that do send your ad to a large number of sites, the fact is that free classifieds are an almost useless way to advertise now. Very few people look at the free classifieds or take them seriously. Actually, pretty much the only people who look at them are those who want to post in them.

I myself manually submitted an ad to about 20 free classified sites and had it renewed for months with most of them, and the response to the ad was zero. That’s right, not a single response. So ad blaster software is at worst a con, at best useless.

The third group of traffic softwares are those that promise to catapult your site to a high search engine ranking by creating what are called "doorway pages".

Doorway pages are basically junk pages stuffed with keywords with links to your main site. These pages have no real content, no graphics, nothing useful. The keywords are often not even part of sentences. Often they’re just strung together in long, repeating, nonsensical chains. And they’re not really part of your site. They’re just put in "Web limbo" by these traffic softwares. Their sole purpose is to lure search engines through the repeated use of the keywords and trick those engines into giving your site a high search ranking.

Doorway page makers create hundreds (or even thousands) of these junk pages so as to flood the search engines with keyword-loaded pages.

The fact is that the search engines know all about such traffic softwares, and their systems know when a page is merely a doorway page. Companies like Google didn’t get to where they are by being stupid. And you know what happens when they detect that on your site? Your site gets completely banned from the search engines. Completely. It won’t even show up in the millionth position. Your traffic will be zero.

Now, from time to time you will hear of some new technology that is outsmarting the search engines. But that never lasts for long. The search engines inevitably find out about it. And when they do, they punish anybody who’s using it. Probably people will keep coming up with new ways of tricking the engines, and the engines will find out about every one of them and crack down on them.

So yes, maybe you’ll find a new "cheating" traffic software that really can outsmart the engines, and maybe you really will increase your traffic, but this will only be temporary. Just as with all prior tricking schemes, the search engines will find a way to detect your method and then ban you permanently. Then that magnificent traffic you’ve been enjoying will plummet to zero. Is it worth the risk?

Do you want to know how to use keyword pages to optimize your traffic? Take the time to do some real research on each of your keywords, and then for each one write a valuable information-packed article discussing that keyword. Quality content is the ONLY way to gain good ranking with search engines and bring a lot of traffic to your site. Traffic softwares won’t do it. Only content will do the job.

Now, you might feel it’s too difficult for you to create keyword pages with valuable content. But the good news is that it really isn’t difficult at all. You’d be surprised at how easy it is, and I’ll tell you in a moment how to do it.

But one thing you need to know first off is that it does take some work on your part. You can’t be thinking that you can just push a button and magically traffic will come your way. That’s simply a con. Don’t believe anyone who tells you their traffic software will do that for you.

So with that in mind, let’s cover how you can create LEGITIMATE keyword-rich pages.

There’s a business creation and management tool called Site Build It! that is also a traffic software of sorts, because its results are what you want a traffic software to do for you. SBI starts you off by doing keyword research and analysis for you. When you enter in a keyword, you can have this module brainstorm it to find many (sometimes hundreds) of related keywords, and it also gives you a profitability rating for each one. So you get a large pool of potentially profitable keywords.

Then use this handy resource on effective writing that shows you how to write effective content for your keywords. Now comes a really nice part.

Site Build It! also contains a search engine optimizer. After you build a webpage with it, its search engine optimizer analyzes your webpage and tells you in detail what changes you need to make to get a higher search engine ranking.

To give you an idea of how effective SBI's search engine optimizer is, I used it to help me construct this website. As of the date of this writing (November 16, 2005), one of the pages on this site is ranking FIRST out of 135,718 search results in MSN for its primary keyword. That's right, first out of over 135,000 pages.

So Site Build It! is a business-building product that also works much like a traffic software. Many people have had enormous success with it.

If you want to see what I’m talking about, take a look at the proof that it delivers what you would want traffic softwares to deliver .

In any case, however you decide to develop your Web business, just remember: You need to put in time and effort to create genuine content if you really want higher traffic. There are NO real shortcuts with search engines. Don’t fall for the traffic softwares. Just research your niche properly, write up valuable content, and use a search engine optimizer to make changes to your webpages until they are fully optimized for high search ranking. With time and effort you WILL see results. And you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that you did it all with your own ability, not by cheating with traffic softwares.
